Bharatiraaja’s much awaited “Bommalattam” which was in the making for three years has finally hit the screens and for the viewer who has got a little bit of interest left in the movie has got more disappointments than anything at the end of the movie. One wonders how did a director with the caliber he possesses in handling the sentimental rural subject becomes a cropper in choosing such a naive and a stupid subject. Though the director claims that this movie is based on a real-life happening, the viewer fails to understand the logic behind choosing this subject to be made with Nana Patekar in the lead. Nesagee Cinema’s latest offering “Poo” is an adaptation of the story “Veyyilodu Poi” written by S. Tamizhselvan. Director Sasi who had given hit films like Sollamale, Roja Kootam and Dishyum has tried his hand in a story that is very realisitic and rustic in nature. The credit has to be given to the director for choosing such a subject but when it comes down to the screenplay a lot is left to be desired especially when the final product falls in the genre of commercial cinema.
